One Last Pearl

Pearl and Will Ferrell have produced another video called "Good Cop, Baby Cop." Sadly, this marks Pearl's final performance. In this press release Pearl states, "My ventures as an actor on the internet have been rewarding and spiritually fulfilling, but now I must look to broader challenges as I approach my 26th month. I shall always reflect upon these days with much fondness, and also, I have no idea what I just said, and I want banana-nana and the upside down show." Hollywood is losing one of it's brightest talents. Pearl, you will be missed.

Avatars, Wild Things, and Nick Fury

Hi-dee ho readers! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm bummed that I couldn't get Rise Against tix for the show on Sunday. Of course my brother, sister-in-law, nephew and 2 other good friends scored tickets and reported that the show was awesome!! Curses!!! I've seen them twice before but really wanted to catch this show. If anyone else was lucky enough to have tix, leave me a comment on what you thought of the show.

Ain't It Cool News reports that Samuel L. Jackson is playing Nick Fury in the Iron Man movie.

The movie is obviously going with the ultimate version of Nick Fury. This would be a smart decision since Samuel L. Jackson gave Marvel comics permission to use his likeness for the character. I wonder if Nick Fury likes Big Kahuna burgers?

Here is a pic from the set of Spike Jonze's adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are.

Looks like it's taken straight from the book. Or maybe John Malkovich's head.

Apparently, my avatar over at USAToday was chosen as one of the finalists for the coolest avatars for the Pop Candy blog. Reader's are voting for the coolest one and I lost in the first round. It's too bad I didn't have my new logo in the contest, I totally would have won!! Click here if you want to vote!!

Indy, Homer, and Darth Vader

Just a couple of quick items today.

Steven Spielberg has started shooting on the fourth Indiana Jones installment. Here's a pic of Harrison Ford in his archeologist's digs(Get it? Digs...archaelogist. Man, I crack myself up!). The film stars Ford, Shia LeBouf(This kid is in everything nowadays. Can you say Dakota Fanning?), Cate Blanchett, John Hurt, Ray Winstone and Jim Broadbent. The film is scheduled for a worldwide May 22, 2008 release.

Yahoo! has a new trailer for The Simpsons. I love the last few seconds of it. "Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig, friendly neighborhood Spider-Pig."

If you missed the Robot Chicken: Star Wars episode, Adult Swim has posted it online with pop-up commentary by Seth Green and Matt Senreich. Here's a small clip. You really have to be a Star Wars junkie to get the inside joke of this clip. (Leave me a comment if you know it.)

Same Bat Channel

Sup peeps?

It's seems to be a Batman inspired week so far. Here is a pic of the Batcycle which the movie is dubbing the "Batpod". Kind of a lame name. Makes me think of a dark, revenge driven MP3 player. Despite the name, it definitely oozes cool. If you want to see Meredith Viera straddle the pod(sorry, couldn't resist) click here. (Warning: You do have to listen to Al Roker.)

New logo and the new Batman suit.

If you're reading the blog on the web page you may have noticed the new logo. I want to thank Ray Raquipiso for designing the logo. The logo has some cool variants for certain occasions, so check the website often (like everyday).

Entertainment Weekly has posted a pic of the new Batsuit. For the first time in the movie franchise, Batman will be able to swivel and nod his head. Read the article for some other cool features of the new suit.

Did anybody see Fantastic Four:Rise of the Silver Surfer this weekend? The reviews are all saying that it's better than the first one but that doesn't say much. If you saw the movie, please leave me a comment and tell me what you thought.

Wizard World Pics

Hey everyone! Got back to Virginia Beach last night after my weekend in Philly at the Wizard World convention. I meant to post some pics over the weekend, but I didn't have my Flickr account configured correctly. Sorry! Once again, Supes was following me around and getting in on the action. Here are some of the pics from the convention. You can see the rest here.

Supes packed and ready to go!

Checking into the hotel and Supes is already macin' on the ladies!

Getting ready to do some volunteering. Benefits include
bright orange shirt but no dental plan.
Elektra wasn't diggin' on Supes.

But these catholic school girls were!!

Random Supes haters.

Supes has his fans as well.

You can catch the rest of my pics from over the weekend here.

Bowling vampires!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!! The highlight of my weekend was the dance performance on Saturday. The Daddy, Daughter number I did with Alyssa was a hit and the whole performance was fantastic. Jennifer Wheeler really put together a fabulous show and based on the audience reaction, all of her hard work paid off! Can't wait to see what she has in store for next year!

Today is the 25th Anniversary of the release date of Grease 2. My brothers and I got hooked on this movie back in 1984 when visiting my sister in Virginia Beach for the first time. She had HBO ( a luxury on the scale of an in-ground pool in our minds) and Grease 2 played non-stop along with Rocky 3 that summer. Some people think that Grease 2 is a cinematic turd and I will say that it has an almost transparent story line and mac and cheesy dialog. But the musical numbers are quite catchy!. I was also crushing on Michelle Pfeiffer which helped me through numerous viewings. My favorite number is the bowling sequence-"We're gonna scoooore tonight!"

Here is the teaser trailer for the adaptation to Steve Niles' awesome graphic novel 30 Days of Night.
The film is set to be released on October 19th. Can't wait!!!

Jukebox, Thundercats, and Flying Whales

Wow, we're a full week into June already! Which means I am a couple of days away from my big dance debut. This Saturday I will be channeling my inner Fred Astaire with my daughter in her Spring Performance for Transitions Dance Studios. I will also be the Master of Ceremonies for the event. If you're looking for something to do, come check us out this Saturday, June 9th at the Roper Theater in Norfolk.

Variety is reporting that a script is being developed to bring the Thundercats to the big screen in CGI form. I remember watching the Thundercats growing up and having major wood for She-tarah ( I guess have something about fur covered boobs). I really liked the theme song even though the last 45 seconds is just the word "Thundercat" repeated about a hundred times. Check it out for yourself.

Finally, here's an awesome pic of a humpback doing his best Flipper imitation. Is the whale smiling?

Mach 5, Robot Chicken Star Wars

Just a few items to take you into the weekend.

Here's a pic of the Mach 5 from the production of Speed Racer. Shooting begins on June 5th for a May 2008 release. No one has been cast for Chim-Chim yet. You know who would be awesome for the part? Kong, the Eighth Wonder of the World!! How awesome would that be?!?! Kong would just toss all the other racer's cars into orbit and Speed could skip across the finish line. Food for thought Wachowski Brothers!

Here is a trailer for the Robot Chicken:Star Wars Episode airing on Adult Swim on June 17th.

If any of you missed the season finale of Lost last week, here's a funny recap of the episode.

Finally, here's a look at Ben Stiller and the Farrelly brothers' new project Heartbreak Kid. Is it just me or has Ben Stiller been picking projects that are just a castrated shell of his earlier work. Night at the Museum? A monumental suck-fest. Meet the Fockers was lame-o-licious! Let's hope Stiller and the Farrelly's can recreate some of that "There's Something About Mary" cinematic hilarity.
