The List!

Hey everyone! I want to thank Ray Raquipiso for coming up with another awesome banner logo for the website. Once again, Ray was able to capture the mood of the New Year and my muscles to perfection.

I've got a list for what I want to see happen in 2008. I know, I know, you're thinking "not another list!" But this isn't a list of the 10 worst liposuction procedures of 2007 or a list of the 10 ways that the iPhone can stop global warming and bring peace to the Middle East (it's true). My list is far more droll and uninteresting. My list is not listed in order of importance nor is it progressive, with lighter items that pair well with poultry or seafood listed at the top and more full bodied items listed at the bottom. Like my blog, it's just random. Without further delay or circumstance, I give you-The List!

  • My friends Jen and Chris will finally get pregnant. Not together.
Actually, yes together, but not that Jen will get pregnant AND Chris will get pregnant. They will get pregnant as a couple. Wait, is that right? Oh forget it! Chris-just plant your seed already!
  • My brother Ken and Jeanne will give birth to a happy, healthy girl that can do the evil eye on cue like this kid.

  • I will finish at least two more scripts this year and hopefully, with whipped cream on top, I will sell one.
  • I will watch Pretty Woman. I just can't take the incredulous disbelief anymore. (You've never seen Pretty Woman? No, and I can still form full sentences in my head.)
  • I will be a proud Father when my daughter Alyssa graduates Elementary School with straight A's.
  • Florida State will finish in the AP Top 10 in football.
  • The Dallas Cowboys will defeat the New England Patriots in Superbowl XLII.
  • Hillary Clinton will become the first President of the United States who douches.
Well, that's The List. Happy New Year everyone! I hope that everything on your list comes true (unless you have "Troy will be a cross dressing mime" on your list)!!

Christmas Adam!!

Hope everyone enjoyed Christmas Adam. In case you have no clue what I'm talking about, let me enlighten you. Christmas Adam is the day before Christmas Eve since Adam came before Eve.

It's been a week since my last post, but I've been busy during that week. However, all that busyness has paid off because last night I finished the first draft of the screenplay (applause). I wanted to get it finished before Christmas and I was able to do it with a few days to spare. It's a huge weight off my shoulders. If I was a character in my screenplay, that weight would literally be my head. I still have to do some rewrites but I'm hoping to have the polished script finished by the end of January at the latest. Three months for a screenplay, not too shabby. Of course, it's just a b-grade horror flick, but hopefully, it's just the beginning.

I'm leaving for San Diego tomorrow to spend Christmas with my Mom and brother John. I hope everyone has a great holiday with lots of eggnog and makings of the yuletide gay!!

Exclusive Preview of Cloverfield

Still excited about this project. The marketing for the film is in turbo viral mode given the premiere is about a month away. I'm always a sucker for the giant monster movie. As a kid, me and my brothers would watch Godzilla Theater every weekend. A different Japanese monster movie would air at noon on Saturday and repeat at noon on Sunday. We religiously watched both airings. and quickly developed favorite monsters (Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Rodan) and despised (Mothra, Minilla, Gamera). We didn't care about the irony of short japanese men wearing costumes to portray giant monsters. We reveled in giant monsters going toe to toe and using Tokyo as a sandbox.

Cloverfield looks like an american version of the Godzilla (or kaiju, as the geeks prefer to call it) genre. I can only hope it's better than the Roland Emmerich remake of Godzilla a few years back. I mean really, Ferris Bueller saves New York from Godzilla? Really?

Fantasies

Hey Random readers!! Just a few quick items today.

I just got back from San Diego. I helped my middle brother John move into his new apartment. Not only did this entail the physical aspect of moving all of his furniture and personal fx, but also setting up his wi-fi, and new home theater system (it sucks being the geek in the family). He got a sick Philips 42" 1080p LCD HDTV with Ambilight. This is the tv that has the "mood" lighting to enhance your viewing experience. I initially thought it was gimmicky, but after actually a few shows with the lights, it was surprisingly cool. To compliment his new flatscreen, he purchased a Toshiba HD-A20 1080p HD DVD Player. Paired with his tv, HD-DVDs look awesome. We watched Planet Earth and the detail was spectacular! You can smell the blood in the water after the great white shark devours the baby seal. It was the original BBC production which is far superior to the American version. It's unedited and narrated by David Attenborough. Wildlife documentaries are more credible with British voiceovers. We also watched The Polar Express in HD-DVD. The picture and sound was so life-like, I almost believed in Santa Claus again. It almost seemed the film was in 3-D but without the dorky glasses.

In other brotherly news, my youngest brother knocked me out of the playoffs in my fantasy league. I lost to him 3 times this season. 3 TIMES!!!! It was a close game 104-100. Of course endless "if I only would have started" scenarios raced through my head, but overall it wasn't a bad season. I've made it to the playoffs every year I've been a part of this league, so I can't complain. To my little brother Ken, I have only one thing to say-you suck!! Forget what I wrote about not complaining. I'm bitter and angry. I deserve to win every year. There can be only one and that's me!!!!

Okay. I feel better now.

Before I sign off, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has been doing their Amazon shopping through my store. I really appreciate the support. Remember, you don't have to buy the items in my store, but if you link to Amazon through my store I will get credit.

Thanks for reading!!

Sun and Surf

Hey Random Readers!

The mercury reached 85 degrees today. I walked to Borders bookstore and I felt like a tortoise walking across the desert in the equatorial sun. It's December and I'm getting pits from walking! I'm definitely not in Virginia anymore.

Keeping with the beach weather in December theme, forecasters are expecting big swells along the coast by the end of the week. The water is still quite cold (50 degrees) but the waves are supposed to be in the 8-12 feet range. Not quite as big as Jaws in Maui.

But there shouldn't be any incidents like this one.

Now that surfer made the tragic error of having great white sharks as wave pals and he got a little boo-boo which will heal in time. What never heals is the scar of starring in a dramatic series written by Zalman King, as a cowboy surfer in Hawaii with Bo Derek playing your Mom. Sadly my friends, there is no remedy for that ailment.

Shopping Season

Some bit o news. It's raining in LA. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

In case you've been living under a rock, (and I apologize to my snake demographic, because you do live under rocks) it's the holiday season. Which means it's time to whip out the credit cards and go deeper into debt. Check out this item. It's a bed with a flat panel tv integrated into the footboard. It also has home theater sound built into it with a subwoofer under the bed. It will set you back $35,000, but hey, it's only a number on a credit card statement. (Thanks to Michele D. for the story).

If you prefer to spend your audio money on your sled, here's a system that will you cost you $72,000. That's right. $72,000 to listen to Rush Limbaugh melt your brain. Hey, it comes with a built in mobile phone. Doesn't that justify the price tag?

If this is out of your price range (if this is not, please give me some of your money), you can find some good deals at Amazon.com this holiday season. You can link to the site from my Amazon store. This is a shameless plug (because I'm poor) but you don't have to purchase items in my store. As long as you go to Amazon through my store, I will get like 2 cents for everything you purchase. Also feel free to check out some of my other sponsors on the website. BustedTees has a sale going on right now.
$12 for some of their most popular designs. Check em' out!

Floor carving!

Hey Random Readers!

I'm back in Sherman Oaks after spending Thanksgiving with my Mom and brothers in San Diego.
As I said in the last post, it's been some time since I celebrated the decimation of a turkey carcass at my Mom's. Other than dry turkey and a movie, I wasn't sure what to expect. So the unexpected didn't really throw me.

First bit of the unexpected. My Mom invited a few of her SGI friends. A few in this case meaning 5. Including myself, my brothers Ricky and John, and my Mom that brought the total to 9 people. Now my Mom's place is small. A munchkin would be claustrophobic in my Mom's duplex. There is barely enough room for 4 of us to eat at the table let alone 9. This just meant that my brothers and I would sit on the floor and couch to enjoy our meal. Joy! My Mom also has very limited counter space in her kitchen. Unfortunately, the counter tops were being occupied by pots and pans, so I got to carve the turkey on the floor. No really, I did. Here's video documentation.

After everything was said and done, it was a great Thanksgiving. The turkey wasn't dry. The pumpkin pie wasn't that burnt and Dallas beat the Jets. Of course, the most important thing is that everyone was safe and healthy and I didn't have to break into the Pepto-Bismol.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hey everyone! Today is Thanksgiving which for me means eating some of Mom's famous dry turkey. Actually the dry turkey part is a tradition I haven't enjoyed in 20 years. That's right. This year will be the first Thanksgiving I've had with my Mom in  20 years. I'm not exaggerating about the turkey being dehydrated either. If you stretched out the meat, you would have a mighty fine rope to wrangle cattle. But I will have plenty of Aquafina on hand, so I should be okay.

I know, I know. I shouldn't be so flippant about my Mom's cooking. It detracts from
the true meaning of Thanksgiving-football! More specifically Dallas Cowboys football.
Yes, I will be watching Tony Romo and the boys stomp all over the New York Jet
s; granting I don't choke on some dark meat first.

There I go again mocking this precious national holiday when I should be thankful I live in a country that protects my freedom to grow up to be a mechanic.

After our meal my brothers Ricky and John and I will be going to the local cineplex to enjoy a movie or two or three. Yes, we will be sneaking into as many movies as possible without paying. What's Thanksgiving without some petty crime?
I hope everyone enjoys their feast today, whether it's turkey or ramen noodles. If you're not doing anything, you're welcome to stop by Mom's and enjoy some pumpkin pie (as long as you don't mind a little burnt crust).

Hotel go boom!

Hey Random peeps!

Just a quick update post.

I'm still settling in here in L.A. but I think I've finally adjusted to the time difference (I actually slept until 8am today).

I finally got back into a gym, after a two week sabbatical. I was going to just join the Gold's Gym out here, but it's a fair distance from the apartment. Greg suggested trying the 24 Hour Fitness club (apologies to my Gold's Gym friends in VA). He's a member and it's within walking distance. I went and got a tour of the facility. The first thing that struck me about the club was the fact that it was 1pm and it was packed! People are serious about their fitness out here. I got a free 2 week pass to try the gym. I've been there 4 days already and figured out the best time to avoid the crowd is between 10am and noon. The club is owned by Magic Johnson, so there are many athletes and celebrities that are members. I see Keenen Ivory Wayans almost everyday.

On the writing front, Greg and I have started a script. It's in the horror genre and we are a quarter way through the first draft. We hope to have the first draft completed by the end of the month. I've been watching a lot of horror films lately for research. Last week was Jeepers Creepers 2 and Night Watch. Last night, Greg and I saw Feast . Some of you may recognize Feast as the movie featured in Project Greenlight 3. The movie was a lot of fun. Very impressive for a first time director. Tonight I'm watching Day Watch, the sequel to Night Watch. So you can probably guess that our screenplay is leaning towards the gore.

That's all for now. If anyone wants to IM me, I'm listing my user ids below. I'm jacking wi-fi from a neighbor, so my internet connection is tenuous. Greg and I are getting cable soon, so it won't be a factor later.

California here I am!!

I know, I know, it's been a while since I've posted anything here. Sorry, but you know the old excuse. Busy, busy!!

So, I finally made it to LA (yes, I will be getting rid of my ringback tone and mySpace song now)! Seems like ages since I made the decision to come out here and give the whole writing career a shot in the arm. Hasn't really changed much since I lived here last. Lots of sun, smog, and traffic. Still getting used to the time difference (I've been getting up at 6am, ugh).

On the writing front, my writing partner(and roomie) Greg have been putting together a script that we hope to have on a production company's desk by December. Greg has an in with Regent Productions (they produce Dante's Cove that Greg stars in) and are looking for the type of script we are developing. Fingers crossed!

Gotta run. Once I get settled in, I will begin posting regularly again!!

One Magical Evening

Well I'm back from my weekend in NYC!! It was a blast. Of course, the highlight was the J.K. Rowling book signing. I'm going to do a brief recap of that evening.

6:00 pm: Jeanne(my sister-in-law) and I leave the hotel and decide to walk the 6 blocks to Carnegie Hall. It has stopped raining and the air is still a little humid but it is a pleasant walk.

6:20 pm: and I arrive at Carnegie Hall. There is a crowd of people outside the front door as well as a line that stretches around the building. We go inside to pick up our tickets at the box office. No one is being admitted into the hall yet, but there are alot of fans taking pictures in the lobby. After receiving our tickets, we go back outside (it's less crowded) and wait to be admitted. There is a definite buzz permeating from the crowd. You can almost taste the anticipation surrounding all the fans. I see children that can't be more than 8 years old dressed up as Harry and Hermione. There is a group of teenage girls wearing "I solemnly swear I am up to no good" t-shirts. Despite the fact that Scholastic is giving everyone a free copy of "The Deathly Hallows" to be signed, quite a few people are optioning to have a copy of their own book to be signed.

6:30 pm: They begin to let everyone enter the hall. Our seats are in the 2nd Dress Circle level and we are slightly center right of the stage. The stage is empty except for a golden throne with red velvet cushions in the center and a large video screen behind it. The theme from the movies fills the air and despite the announces that flash photography is prohibited, everyone has their cameras out and is flashing away (except for me because I've always been afraid of that PA voice).

7:00pm: There is one final warning against flash photography and cell phone use (everyone follows my lead this time) and the lights dim. The crowd roars and the intimidating PA voice welcomes everyone and introduces Keith Olbermann. He takes the stage and gives a wonderful speech about what an exciting evening we have in store for us. He also shares a little story about how his favorite book as a youngster was James and the Giant Peach and that he wrote a letter to Roald Dahl and Mr. Dahl wrote him a response. He went on to say that we were luckier because we get to meet J.K. Rowling. He then talked about the Harry Potter phenomenon and the extraordinary ability that J.K. Rowling had to pull children away from the noise of their televisions and videogames into the quiet of their imaginations through her books. Then he showed a video retrospective of the Harry Potter phenomenon.

7:20 pm: The video ends and Olbermann introduces J.K. Rowling who walks on stage to a standing ovation. She waves to the crowd and then sits down on the throne. She tells everyone what a thrill it is for her to read a passage from the book to her fans. She explains that it is difficult to choose a passage that won't give too much away in case some people haven't read the book yet(although I don't think she had to worry with this crowd). Ms. Rowling then states that she has never read the passage she chose in public before. It is the part right after Ron has destroyed the locket and saved Harry from drowning. Ms. Rowling gave a beautiful reading. She gave each character a distinctive voice and read each sentence with precision and careful determination. The crowd responded with laughter and applause and Ms. Rowling even appeared to get choked up because of our enthusiasm for the reading. She ended the passage to another standing ovation.

7:45 pm: The question and answer session began. Pre-selected attendees approached a mike in the main aisles , stated their name, where they were from, and their question. The question and answer that had the whole place buzzing was whether Dumbledore had ever found love? J.K. Rowling stated that Dumbledore was gay and had fallen in love with Grindelwald. The crowd reacted very positively with loud applause. She also told of how she was at a script read-through for the 6th movie and there was a line where Dumbledore was telling Harry he knew a girl once with flowing hair and Ms. Rowling had to write in the margin for the screenwriter "Dumbledore's gay!" Another question and answer that I found intriguing was the first one of the evening. A young girl asked Ms. Rowling if there was a question that she was afraid to answer before the series was complete. Ms. Rowling replied that there was one question she was hoping no one would ask, and to her amazement, no one ever did. No one ever asked about Dumbledore's wand. She said that she always got questions about everyone else's wand, but never Dumbledore's. She was afraid that if someone inquired about the nature of his wand or what it was made from, she would probably have to reply it was made from Elder and be forced to change the name of the wand in the book. The Q&A went on for about an hour. I was amazed at all of the questions. They all seemed well thought out and never trivial. Ms. Rowling answered every question very directly and never shied away from an answer, with one exception. A very young girl from Hawaii asked Ms. Rowling what kind of charms Aberforth Dumbledore was performing on goats to get him prosecuted? Ms. Rowling asked the young girl how old she was (8 years old). Ms. Rowling paused a moment and then proceeded to answer that Aberforth was probably trying to make a cleaner goat with curly horns and then she claimed "and that is my answer to you," to which the entire audience laughed. A list of most of the questions and answers can be found at the-leaky-cauldron.org.
8:45 pm: The Q@A ends and Rowling leaves to limber up in preparation for the book signing. A table is set up in front of the stage and Ms. Rowling reemerges about 10 minutes later and begins the marathon book signing session. The audience is lead up to the table by seating section and files past Ms. Rowling to receive their signed book.

9:45 pm: I finally reach the table and as I walk past Ms. Rowling, I tell her that it was an incredible evening and she says "thanks for coming!" and gives me my book.

So I am now the proud owner of a signed copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the memories of one of the best evenings of my life!! The paper also did a story about me and the other two local winners. You can read it here.

Start Spreading the News

Tomorrow is the big day!!! I'm flying to New York for the J.K. Rowling book signing. Color me giddy. The Virginian-Pilot did a telephone interview with me yesterday for a story that will run tomorrow. They asked the usual questions:

"Are you excited?"
"Who's going with you?"
"What are you going to ask her?"
"Does it burn when you pee?"

In case any of you are wondering who I'm taking, the lucky person is Jeanne Dodd, my sister-in-law. After my daughter didn't want to go, my best friend wanted to accompany me. But all she cared about was doing some shopping. Scratched her off the list. I asked my brother if he wanted to go (especially since he is the one who got me into the books in the first place). Initially he said yes, but had t back out due to scheduling conflicts with his new job. So then I asked his wife, who loves Harry Potter as much as anyone and more importantly isn't working. She immediately agreed. She even made all the travel arrangements-bonus!!

I will post on Twitter all weekend, so you can stay updated. See you in the Big Apple!!

Pushing Love

Just spent my Sunday morning watching Pushing Daisies online. It's a fantastic show! I really love Pushing Daisies!! And not in the sense that the show is unique and clever , has witty and smart writing, and great acting. It's more than that. If the show were a physical entity, I would buy her flowers and take her on a dinner date. Not the usual distracting her and slipping a roofie into her vanilla cosmo kind of date. It would be the talking and slow walks on the beach and holding hands kind of date. The show would be female, right?

Of course, it's a wee on the soon side to see if my Pushing Daisies love will rival my Buffy the Vampire Slayer love. But I'm hopeful. I have too much love inside of me to waste on one show.

Daemoned

Greetings and salutations everyone!!

I threw out that Charlotte's Web reference because my daemon has changed to a spider. If you're reading this on my website, then you will notice that someone has been tweaking my personality profile so that now my daemon is a spider. I kind of like the gibbon better. It seemed more of a match especially since I was born in the Chinese year of the Monkey. My daemon may still change. There are 10 more days before the form becomes permanent.

If any of you don't know what a daemon is then you have to read The Golden Compass or wait for the movie to come out in December or watch this clip.

Gotta swing!!

Pop Candy Day!!

Hey everyone!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been busy with planning for the trip to NY to see J.K. Rowling and for the big move, so I've been dark on the internet. No tweets on Twitter , no updates on Facebook, no Google searches for images of Maria Sharapova.

One quick narcissistic item before I dash to work.

I'm the featured reader on the Pop Candy blog today.

Also, I have to mention the game on Monday night. The Cowboys are now 5-0. Believe it!!

Oh yeah, and Florida State is back among the ranked!! #21 and climbing!! Go Noles!!

Ok, I will post more later tonight.

Resident Evil Feist

Some quick figures.

The Dallas Cowboys are 3-0.

My fantasy football team is 1-2.

Dane Cook and Jessica Alba are 0-1.

I can't get this Feist song out of my head.

I hope you have better luck!!

I saw Resident Evil: Extinction over the weekend. It didn't suck. If you liked the previous movies, then you should enjoy this one. If you didn't like the previous movies, well then you're probably not going to see this movie anyway.

Good things about the film:
  • Milla Jovovich is hot and kicks zombie ass.
  • Ali Larter (see above).
Bad things about the film:

As the wise totem known only as Tigger would say: "TTFN!"

Chicka, chicka, J.K. Rowling, J.K. Rowling

Everybody dig their weekend? Mine got off to a great start.

On Friday, I received a call from Scholastic Books saying that I had won two tickets to meet J.K. Rowling in New York next month. That's right!! J.K. "I write the bad ass Harry Potter novels" Rowling. She's doing a book tour next month in the states. She's only visiting three cities to do a reading from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for specially selected school children. But she is also doing a reading and book signing for 1000 fans. The fans were selected by a sweepstakes and that is what I won. I forgot I had entered the contest, so I was shocked and surprised by the call informing me that I had won!!! The event is on October 19th at Carnegie Hall. I kind of feel like I got one of the five Golden Tickets to visit Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory(diminished by a factor of 200).

Update: I was going to take my daughter to the event, but she doesn't want to go. So, I have an extra ticket. Hmmm...who should I take now?

Florida State is now 2-1.

I saw the pilot of the Bionic Woman with Amazon.com's Unbox service. It wasn't bad. The show is like Alias meets Smallville. Michelle Ryan has big boobs makes a striking Jamie Sommers despite the fact she's a brunette. I'll probably stay tuned for the boobs season.

Indy vs. Dr. Dre

Just a couple of quick items today.

Florida State is now 1-1.

The Iron-Man trailer is up. Take a peek. Looks decent, although I really wanted to see some repulser beam action.

Anybody catch Dr. Dre on the VMAs? The man has obviously been doing steroids going to the gym. He is a beast!! Also explains why Beyonce is fat, Dr. Dre is using up all the gym time.

50 cent: Damn, baby got back!!

In other VMA news, Shia LeBeouf announced the name of the new Indiana Jones movie. Drum roll please.....

It was a weird time to announce the title. Nobody at the VMAs seemed to care about the movie. Who can blame them? They probably saw Shia come on stage and decided that it was a good time to do some lines in the restroom.

I'm listening to the High School Musical 2 soundtrack and ummm I like it!!! Deal with it.

Ergonomic sex instruments. Think about it.

Peace!!

Russell versus Clive

Friday, Friday, glorious, sensational, wonderful Friday. The preceding was a paid endorsement by the Saturdays Suck Coalition.

Everyone please put your books and notes away. Time for a quiz. Let's see how well you know movies from the past 25 years. Apparently, I've seen too many movies.

100%The Movie Quiz

FilmCritic.com - Movie Reviews

This week I saw two advance screenings for movies opening today-3:10 to Yuma and Shoot Em' Up.

Let me talk about 3:10 first. I posted earlier that this is a remake of a 1957 film. I have never seen the original(and I'm assuming most people under 40 haven't) and honestly have never heard of the film until marketing for the remake began. No one else I've talked to has seen or heard of the film. The film was never mentioned in my History of Film class in college when we covered the Western film. The film is just not part of the classic Western canon of movies. So, does it makes sense to remake a little known film for a new generation to enjoy? Obviously, somebody thought the movie was good enough to warrant a remake. The theme is familiar (and overused). An outlaw leader(Russell Crowe-the bad guy) squares off against a rancher family man(Christian Bale-the good guy). They have a journey together(to catch the train of the title) and discover that everyone has inner layers that belie their outward persona. Does it work? Yes...to a point. And that point comes about 90 minutes into the film. The final minutes of the film doesn't justify the character development of the first hour and a half. It's almost as if the filmmakers weren't sure how to resolve the movie. I can't give you any more details without spoiling it for you. Is it worth seeing? Yes. Crowe and Bale give solid performances. The narrative is smooth and even and the action is well edited and easy to follow. Is it the best Western of all time? No, not by a long shot(that honor still belongs to The Searchers). Some characters are shallow stereotypes, particularly Ben Foster's Charlie Prince and Johnny Whitworth's Darden. Nobody is surprised by their fate. So it would seem this remake will have the same reputation as the original. A good movie, but not good enough to be remembered as a classic.

Ok, now on to Shoot Em' Up. Don't see it!!

Enjoy the weekend!!

Back to School!

Hope everyone had a great labor day weekend!!

Today marks the first day of school for a lot of students. For those of you who need a little encouragement to return to school, I found this motivational video.

Ladies, see what happens if you don't complete your education? You could be Miss South Carolina-doomed to a paltry existence as a Price is Right model or even worse...Elizabeth Hasselbeck's replacement on The View. There's a lesson for the fellas too. You could be Mario Lopez-doomed to hosting beauty pageants. See, the video works on many levels. So, stay in school!!

"The tallest mountain in the world? Ummm...do you like my boobs?"

Speaking of school...Florida State got schooled by Clemson last night, 24-18. Apparently, the Clemson curse is still going strong!!

Went and saw Superbad again this weekend. Still funny!! I caught more jokes this time around which just reinforced my opinion that this is the funniest movie of the year.

Tonight I'm going to see an advance screening of 3:10 to Yuma.

That's right...Maximus takes on the Batman!! This is a remake of the 1957 film which starred Superman's Pops Glenn Ford and Van Heflin(awesome name). Should be awesome!!

That's all for today. But before I leave...what is the tallest mountain in the world from base to peak? Hint: It's not Mt. Everest.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

I know this can be seen as narcissistic hype, but I'm an attention whore, so, happy birthday to me!
Yep, on this date 39 years ago, I squeezed out of my Mom's vagina in a tiny hospital in Saigon, Vietnam. One of the presents I got from my brother and sister-in-law was a shirt that was made in Vietnam, like me.

So to commemorate my birthday, here is a list of my favorite movies with birthday themes.

What? You've never heard of Happy Birthday to Me? Classic 80's gore fest. Go rent it now!!

If anyone wishes to help me celebrate my birthday, I will be at Mahi Mah's this evening. See ya there!!

AvP and Buffy news!!

Greetings!! Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was Raiders of the Lost Ark nazi face-melting hot in Virginia Beach this weekend. Then it rained. Who could ask for better weather? Maybe those demon ducks you read about, who I hear from a good source are trying to take over the Eastern seaboard.

A typical Virginia Beach resident on his way to the mall on Saturday.

If you're one of the 652 people that saw Alien Vs. Predator and thought, "Wow!! I can't wait for the sequel!!" You're in luck! Here is the trailer for Alien vs. Predator: Requiem.

For all you Buffy fans!!

Looks like "Ripper," the BBC project that will feature Giles back in his native England is moving forward. Here's the interview with Anthony Stewart Head that explains the details.

Brian K. Vaughn will write a story arc for Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8. It will be about our favorite sexy, rogue slayer Faith.

In related Faith news, Eliza Dushku has inked a new talent deal with 2oth Century Fox.

That's all for now!! If you have any interesting news you wish to share, leave a comment or shoot me an email!!

So Long Harry Potter!

I finally finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows over the weekend and I'm feeling a little bittersweet. I absolutely loved the novel!! Best one of the series. However, I'm also feeling melancholy over the end of the saga. For the past 10 years I've laughed, cried, sulked, pitied, worried, loved and bled(got a papercut turning a page) with Harry Potter. Now, it's all over. I hear that J.K. Rowling is working on a detective novel. I wonder if it's about a detective who uses magic to solve crimes? Oh well. The books may be done but at least there are still 2 more mediocre movies coming out I can look forward to.

I also saw a couple of movies last week.

Stardust-Fairy tale fun!!

High School Musical 2-Guilty pleasure.

Superbad topped the box office this weekend. Glad people went to see this hilarious film. I was worried it might not do well at the box office and get word of mouth cult status. The film makers deserve to be financially rewarded for this gem so that the studios will support them in future projects. The only drawback is that the studios will be churning out mediocre copycat movies in the hopes of slipstreaming on Superbad's financial success. I can see the pitches now:

Superweeds-Two nerdy high school students go in pursuit of chronic to impress hemp wearing babes.

Supershrooms-Two nerdy high school students search cow fields in pursuit of peyote and hot cherokee babes.

Superblow-Two nerdy high school students go in pursuit of cocaine to impress Lindsay Lohan.

Hmmm. That last movie could work.
