Shopping Season

Some bit o news. It's raining in LA. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

In case you've been living under a rock, (and I apologize to my snake demographic, because you do live under rocks) it's the holiday season. Which means it's time to whip out the credit cards and go deeper into debt. Check out this item. It's a bed with a flat panel tv integrated into the footboard. It also has home theater sound built into it with a subwoofer under the bed. It will set you back $35,000, but hey, it's only a number on a credit card statement. (Thanks to Michele D. for the story).

If you prefer to spend your audio money on your sled, here's a system that will you cost you $72,000. That's right. $72,000 to listen to Rush Limbaugh melt your brain. Hey, it comes with a built in mobile phone. Doesn't that justify the price tag?

If this is out of your price range (if this is not, please give me some of your money), you can find some good deals at Amazon.com this holiday season. You can link to the site from my Amazon store. This is a shameless plug (because I'm poor) but you don't have to purchase items in my store. As long as you go to Amazon through my store, I will get like 2 cents for everything you purchase. Also feel free to check out some of my other sponsors on the website. BustedTees has a sale going on right now.
$12 for some of their most popular designs. Check em' out!

Floor carving!

Hey Random Readers!

I'm back in Sherman Oaks after spending Thanksgiving with my Mom and brothers in San Diego.
As I said in the last post, it's been some time since I celebrated the decimation of a turkey carcass at my Mom's. Other than dry turkey and a movie, I wasn't sure what to expect. So the unexpected didn't really throw me.

First bit of the unexpected. My Mom invited a few of her SGI friends. A few in this case meaning 5. Including myself, my brothers Ricky and John, and my Mom that brought the total to 9 people. Now my Mom's place is small. A munchkin would be claustrophobic in my Mom's duplex. There is barely enough room for 4 of us to eat at the table let alone 9. This just meant that my brothers and I would sit on the floor and couch to enjoy our meal. Joy! My Mom also has very limited counter space in her kitchen. Unfortunately, the counter tops were being occupied by pots and pans, so I got to carve the turkey on the floor. No really, I did. Here's video documentation.

After everything was said and done, it was a great Thanksgiving. The turkey wasn't dry. The pumpkin pie wasn't that burnt and Dallas beat the Jets. Of course, the most important thing is that everyone was safe and healthy and I didn't have to break into the Pepto-Bismol.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hey everyone! Today is Thanksgiving which for me means eating some of Mom's famous dry turkey. Actually the dry turkey part is a tradition I haven't enjoyed in 20 years. That's right. This year will be the first Thanksgiving I've had with my Mom in  20 years. I'm not exaggerating about the turkey being dehydrated either. If you stretched out the meat, you would have a mighty fine rope to wrangle cattle. But I will have plenty of Aquafina on hand, so I should be okay.

I know, I know. I shouldn't be so flippant about my Mom's cooking. It detracts from
the true meaning of Thanksgiving-football! More specifically Dallas Cowboys football.
Yes, I will be watching Tony Romo and the boys stomp all over the New York Jet
s; granting I don't choke on some dark meat first.

There I go again mocking this precious national holiday when I should be thankful I live in a country that protects my freedom to grow up to be a mechanic.

After our meal my brothers Ricky and John and I will be going to the local cineplex to enjoy a movie or two or three. Yes, we will be sneaking into as many movies as possible without paying. What's Thanksgiving without some petty crime?
I hope everyone enjoys their feast today, whether it's turkey or ramen noodles. If you're not doing anything, you're welcome to stop by Mom's and enjoy some pumpkin pie (as long as you don't mind a little burnt crust).

Hotel go boom!

Hey Random peeps!

Just a quick update post.

I'm still settling in here in L.A. but I think I've finally adjusted to the time difference (I actually slept until 8am today).

I finally got back into a gym, after a two week sabbatical. I was going to just join the Gold's Gym out here, but it's a fair distance from the apartment. Greg suggested trying the 24 Hour Fitness club (apologies to my Gold's Gym friends in VA). He's a member and it's within walking distance. I went and got a tour of the facility. The first thing that struck me about the club was the fact that it was 1pm and it was packed! People are serious about their fitness out here. I got a free 2 week pass to try the gym. I've been there 4 days already and figured out the best time to avoid the crowd is between 10am and noon. The club is owned by Magic Johnson, so there are many athletes and celebrities that are members. I see Keenen Ivory Wayans almost everyday.

On the writing front, Greg and I have started a script. It's in the horror genre and we are a quarter way through the first draft. We hope to have the first draft completed by the end of the month. I've been watching a lot of horror films lately for research. Last week was Jeepers Creepers 2 and Night Watch. Last night, Greg and I saw Feast . Some of you may recognize Feast as the movie featured in Project Greenlight 3. The movie was a lot of fun. Very impressive for a first time director. Tonight I'm watching Day Watch, the sequel to Night Watch. So you can probably guess that our screenplay is leaning towards the gore.

That's all for now. If anyone wants to IM me, I'm listing my user ids below. I'm jacking wi-fi from a neighbor, so my internet connection is tenuous. Greg and I are getting cable soon, so it won't be a factor later.

California here I am!!

I know, I know, it's been a while since I've posted anything here. Sorry, but you know the old excuse. Busy, busy!!

So, I finally made it to LA (yes, I will be getting rid of my ringback tone and mySpace song now)! Seems like ages since I made the decision to come out here and give the whole writing career a shot in the arm. Hasn't really changed much since I lived here last. Lots of sun, smog, and traffic. Still getting used to the time difference (I've been getting up at 6am, ugh).

On the writing front, my writing partner(and roomie) Greg have been putting together a script that we hope to have on a production company's desk by December. Greg has an in with Regent Productions (they produce Dante's Cove that Greg stars in) and are looking for the type of script we are developing. Fingers crossed!

Gotta run. Once I get settled in, I will begin posting regularly again!!
