I hate you Summer Movie Season

Hey Random readers!! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I've been ill-scratchy throat, achy muscles, burning pee. All of that has been compounded by my viewing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Uuurp-I think I just threw up in my mouth. Definitely the worst movie of the already mediocre franchise. This could have been a great installment to transition the characters to the next level as the novels start to take a darker tone. But the movie is just fluff. Hermione and Ron are just cardboard standees that really have nothing to say. All of my favorite characters are just one trick ponies in the film. Dumbledore's major contribution is to fight Voldemort at the end, but even that scene feels flat and uninspiring. Mrs. McGonogall is practically non-existent, and Alan Rickman is practically calling in his lines as Severus Snape. We are introduced to some new characters, Luna Lovegood, Dolores Umbridge, and Bellatrix LeStrange. LeStrange, portrayed by Helena Bonham Carter, does nothing more than cackle and flail her arms about, so she fits right into the film. However, Luna Lovegood and Dolores Umbridge actually bring something to the movie. Imelda Staunton's turn as Umbridge is deliciously vile through her proper appearance. Newcomer Evanna Lynch is charming and delivers Luna Lovegood's lines with perfect uneven timing and aloofness. Too bad it's not enough. It's a shame really. I was hoping this installment of the franchise marked a change for better storytelling and character development. Instead Order of the Phoenix is just plain out of order.
